Great efforts from our ROAR u12’s in Dorset. With the squad reduced to 7 players the away matches in Dorset were always going to be a challenge.
Pretty quickly illness reduced the team to a bare five – with injuries it became increasingly difficult. Still every player stepped up and with growing confidence having been 14 behind, ROAR pulled within 4 of Dorset Storm in the 3rd quarter. Fatigue played its part again though and Dorset pulled away in the 4th to finish 12 points clear.
To find 5 players to go back in against Plymouth Raiders was a challenge. A very different style of basketball was required and the team executed it well. This was a severe test and a great learning experience. To score 11 against a strong, older, experienced Plymouth was down to determination. To limit them to 57 was a bigger accomplishment.
So we come away knowing more about ourselves and flexible styles of play we need to employ. The bonding of the 7 will be helpful as we close out the season. With another player making their debut in the yellow of ROAR it could be a roller coaster finish.
