Winning ways in the Southwest u12 League

ROAR Basketball welcomed Bristol Flyers and Torbay Tigers to our Southwest home, Gloucester College on Saturday 17th.
Bristol were again too strong for both Tigers and ROAR.  They are a well organised unit and although the first quarter score showed 6-2 to Flyers, from the second qtr they took control.

The final game of the day saw ROAR match up with Torbay Tigers with all to play for.

Torbay took the first qtr.  ROAR benefited from the fitness of key members of the squad to apply pressure defence.  The pressure paid off until in the 3rd qrt, a spell of play with 3 steals in a row took ROAR into a lead that wouldn’t be challenged again.
It was a great team effort with every player involved in crucial elements of the match from defence, through transition and offence.

As a first ever club win in the Southwest League it was sweet indeed.

Herefordshire basketball players are really fortunate.  Due to our long association with Southwest Basketball and Gloucester Saxons Basketball we are able to compete in the Southwest U12 League, the highest level of competition for this age group in the country.  Without this and the support of the officials the growth of these players would be massively reduced.  CVL’s and friendly competitions are great to get players participating but this is where performance is tested and improved.
